Key characteristics of Ur-Fascism:
-Cult of tradition: A belief in a single, eternal truth that must be interpreted by an elite, rejecting modernism and critical thinking.
-Rejection of modernism: A disdain for the modern world, often leading to a desire to return to a mythical past.
-Cult of action for action's sake: A belief that action is valuable in itself, often leading to a glorification of war and heroism.
-Disagreement is treason: A rejection of critical thinking and intellectual debate, viewing disagreement as a sign of disloyalty.
-Fear of difference: Exploiting and exacerbating the natural fear of "the other," making racism a core component.
-Appeal to a frustrated middle class: Exploiting feelings of economic and social humiliation to create resentment and a sense of being victimized.
-Obsession with a plot: A belief that the nation is under threat from a conspiracy, justifying the need for a strong leader.
-Elitism: A belief that the followers are the "best people," leading to contempt for the weak.
-Heroism and impatience to die: A glorification of heroic death and a desire to die for the cause, often sending others to die instead.
-Machismo and weaponry: A focus on masculinity, often linked to a love of weapons and a cult of the hero.
-Selective populism: A belief that the "voice of the people" is a single, unified will, even if it's just a select group.
-Newspeak: A simplified and impoverished vocabulary to limit critical thinking.
