It really depends on what type of failure the compressor experienced. if The compressor grenaded meaning the internals blew up and got fragments of metal shavings in the system than absolutely everything has to be flushed and/or replaced but if it just had a common compressor failure like the the clutch wasn't working or it just wouldn't make enough pressure to cool any longer then you're generally okay just installing a compressor and since it did work to begin with I'm going to go right back to it's probably out of refrigerant and since the only place the system was opened was at the compressor it's quite possible that the gentleman installed it did not put new o-rings or the o-rings weren't fitted properly or they were the wrong o-rings so I would highly suspect the seals o-rings at the compressor that would be the first place that I would be looking so yes the service that needs to be performed is a visual inspection with everything that you just told me look and see if you can see any signs of refrigerant leak at the compressor and if there's nothing seen visually then you just have to charge it with refrigerant also adding a few ounces of dye to the system and then use the sniffer or visually look for the fluorescent dye generally if the shop is doing it then it's hooked up to the machine and when the leak is found they can simply suck their freon back out of it if the leak isn't too huge then not a whole lot would have escaped in a 5-minute. Repair the leak suck it back down and charge it back up I recommend going and seeing Biff at xxx I worked there for 10 years very honest man very honest pricing
